PTE Exam Overview

Like any test, the PTE Academic exam also has a few eligibility criteria for students seeking to apply for this exam. Although there are not many, it is good to consider what the PTE eligibility criteria are:

Pearson does not set any specific academic or educational qualifications for candidates wishing to take the PTE Academic exam. The only criterion that PTE looks for in a candidate is to have a foundational understanding of the English language at an academic level to perform well in the test.

Similar to the academic eligibility, the educational eligibility for a candidate is also that no minimum or maximum educational qualification is stipulated by Pearson for taking the PTE Academic exam. This is because the primary purpose of the PTE Academic exam is to determine the English language proficiency of the candidate and not their previous academic achievements.

According to Pearson, the candidate must be at least 16 years old to take the PTE Academic exam. Parental consent is required for candidates aged 16 or 17 years old, as anyone under 18 years old is considered a ‘minor’ and must submit a parental consent form duly signed by either a parent or legal guardian. The consent form can be downloaded from the official PTE Academic website.

You should note that although Pearson doesn’t enforce many eligibility criteria on you, you should be mindful of the admission and eligibility requirements set by the university to which you are applying so that you get the best possible scores for your PTE exam.

To begin your PTE Registration Process, here are some simple steps to follow to book your PTE Academic exam:

• Go to the official Pearson PTE website, and click ‘Book a Test’ or ‘Sign Up’.
• Create your myPTE account.
• While creating your account, enter your correct personal information that matches your valid passport.
• Log in to your myPTE account (complete a verification step, if applicable).
• Select the ‘Study’ option when asked for your purpose of taking the test.
• Next, select ‘PTE Academic’.
• Select your nearest ‘test centre’ from the drop-down list and schedule your test date and time.
• Fill in any remaining details required while carefully reviewing your information given.
• Agree to Pearson VUE testing policies and terms and conditions.
• Pay your PTE Academic exam fees of US $205 through the available payment methods and click ‘Submit’.
• After payment, you will receive an official confirmation from Pearson PTE with your test appointment details, also viewable in your myPTE Dashboard.

The PTE exam fee in Bangladesh is $205 (in USD), which amounts to approximately BDT 24,828. In the event that you register late (i.e., within 48 hours before your test), you will have to pay an additional ‘PTE Late Booking Fee’, which costs around $7.46 USD or 908 BDT (subject to change as per Pearson PTE policies).

In the case that you want to ‘Reschedule’ your test date, you can do it for ‘Free’ if there are more than 14 days to the currently active test date by clicking ‘Reschedule’ in your myPTE dashboard. If there are fewer than 14 days, then you will have to cancel and reapply for your test appointment.

If you have to cancel and re-book your test for another date, you can select the ‘Cancel’ option in your myPTE dashboard and do so. You should note that:

• When you cancel more than 14 days before your test date, you will receive a full refund.
• If you cancel between 8 and 13 days, you will receive a 50% refund.
• If you cancel fewer than 7 days before your test date, you will not be refunded.

To pay your PTE exam fee in Bangladesh, you can use either an accepted credit (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or JCB) or debit card (Visa or MasterCard).

The PTE Exam Format for the PTE Academic Exam comprises three sections and takes 2 hours to complete in a single test sitting.

Speaking & Writing –

• Takes 54-67 minutes to complete

Reading –

• Takes 29-30 minutes to complete

Listening –

When the PTE results and scores are ready, you will receive an email notification, after which you can view and download your score report from your myPTE account.

• There are only 12 retakes within a year (12 months)
• You cannot create multiple PTE accounts
