Requirements to Study In Australia for International Students?

Australian universities' requirements for study programs are no different from those of universities in other countries. Australia follows no stringent measures, and you can easily be admitted into one of the Australian universities.

The basic requirements are as follows:

  • Bachelor’s Programs:
You will need an IELTS score of at least 6.0, a TOEFL score of at least 79, and a PTE score between 50 - 57. You should also have at least 65% in your grade 12.
The IELTS, TOEFL & PTE scores should be 6.5, 79 and 58 - 64, respectively. Typically, a three-year Bachelor’s degree is the only requirement to apply for a Master’s in Australia. However, some universities even ask for a degree equivalent to an Australian Bachelor’s degree.

With a minimum IELTS score of 6.5, you will need a 3-4 years Bachelor’s degree and a 2-year Master’s degree to apply for a Doctoral Program in Australia.

Apart from an IELTS score of 5.5, you will need a TOEFL score of 55 and a PTE score between 42 and 49. Also, you should obtain at least 60% in your grade 12.

Entrance Tests Required to Study In Australia for International Students?

Those students who are non-native speakers of the English language will have to take the English Proficiency Test and get a minimum score in it. The most common tests are as follows

A student needs to take the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test to get admission to a university in Australia. It tests the reading, writing, listening and speaking skills of students.
You can take the Test Of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) in paper-based and internet forms. The minimum score requirement differs accordingly as well.
The Pearson Test of English (PTE) is another English Proficiency Test that universities in Australia accept.
Cambridge University conducts the Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE), which is accepted by universities in Australia.
