How to Get MBA Admission in Australia?

It is fairly easy for Bangladeshi students to apply for an MBA program in Australia. However, they need to plan for it in advance. With so many universities in Australia offering a wide range of MBA specializations for you, it can get trickier if you do not know how to apply for the program. Before anything else, you need to have the following documents ready with you before you proceed with the exact steps to secure admission to an MBA program in Australia:

  • Updated CV/Resume
  • Academic transcripts/records
  • Application form
  • Letters of Recommendations
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Student Visa
  • TOEFL/IELTS scores
  • MBA Essays
  • GMAT scores
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Loan documents, if required

The procedure to be followed to secure admission to an MBA school in Australia is simple. It is as follows:

STEP 1: As the official language of Australia is English, Bangladeshi students need to indicate their proficiency in English. Both TOEFL and IELTS are widely accepted across the MBA colleges in Australia. Besides these two options, a few Australian universities also consider exams like PTE (Pearson Test of English), VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education), and C1 Advanced.

Before you sit for these exams, check the minimum scores required by your chosen university. Suppose your college or university requires you to produce GRE or GMAT scores. In that case, you need to prepare for these exams accordingly.

STEP 2: Next, students need to register with their respective colleges. As most colleges in Australia have an Online Registration facility, students can opt for them from the comforts of their homes. All necessary information needs to be provided at the time of registration. Also, start preparing for the required documents, as the college/university requires.

STEP 3: Once the student is registered with the college/university of his/her choice, it is advisable to get an Australian Class 12, or equivalent 10+2 score of a Bangladeshi school validated by the college's admission office. Most of the time, the student counsellor of the university will help in this regard.

STEP 4: As per the directives of most Australian universities, Bangladeshi students need to produce an admission essay. For most MBA courses across the colleges in Australia, students are only required to submit a set of questions provided at the time of registration. As this essay is an important part of securing admission to a college, students are advised not to rush into filling out the application form. Depending on the college you wish to enrol in, you may even be required to produce an updated resume.

STEP 5: Students need to apply along with academic transcripts and the test scores to the concerned centre via online method as most colleges in Australia have an online submission facility. However, in case you are required to submit all the documents in physical form, then make sure you courier them well before time.

STEP 6: Some colleges in Australia require students to submit a letter of recommendation and application. Other colleges let students provide a letter of recommendation after the submission of the application. Usually, Australian colleges require students to provide a letter of recommendation from at least 2 or 3 people.

Students are advised to keep an eye on the university deadlines as they vary from one college to another. Students are required to do thorough research and apply for an MBA program well in advance to make it to the final list and make the most of the scholarship opportunities that come their way.

Most of these colleges enrol the students in a 'Non-Executive MBA' program or an 'Executive MBA' program for those having critical work experience. However, students with no work experience need to meet requirements and eligibility criteria as set by the colleges selected by them.
